Club Championships
The Men’s and Women’s Championships were held
in September with the finals hotly contested in all
grades. Congratulations to our two Club Champions
in Anne Tregonning and Curtis Luck. Anne and
Curtis both claimed their first Championships in hard
fought matches against Dierdre Collins and Brad
White respectively. The Junior Championship was
held in August with Jack Patterson defeating Wade
Mackintosh in the final.
Women’s Charity Day and Passages Charity Day
The Women’s Charity Day was once again a highlight
on the club golfing and social calendar. Well done
to all the women involved in making the day very
special and for raising in excess of $42,000 to help a
variety of charities. Well done also to a large group
of Cottesloe men in organising the Passages Charity
Golf Day. The event was hugely successful with a host
of entertainment on offer and over $90,000 raised.
A great job by all concerned with both events and
something we as a club should be very proud.
WA Open Championship
Cottesloe hosted 132 professional and elite amateurs
in October in what proved to be a great event for the
Club albeit with one big challenge. A large storm front
hit the course late Saturday afternoon and it did not
look good for the final round with the course inundated
with water and debris. Testament to the course staffs
passion for the club all bar none came in Saturday
evening and worked through the night to present a
course which did not reflect what had happened the
day prior. I cannot express enough the thanks given
by the PGA and Golf WA officials when they arrived
Sunday morning to see a pristine course presented for
the days play.
