Facilities Masterplan
ABOUT THE COTTESLOE GOLF CLUB FACILITIES MASTERPLAN PROJECT
The Facilities Masterplan Project aims to improve off-course facilities, enhance the member experience and extend our reputation as a premier golf destination.
Cottesloe Golf Club recognises its privileged position as custodians and managers of the site and the responsibility of ensuring it endures for future generations.
In 2023, we developed a renewed Strategic Plan to guide the direction of the Club for a 10 year period.
The Plan specifically targets achieving a “Cottesloe Experience” – encompassing an outstanding golf course and facilities. The Plan also identifies considerable opportunity for renewal, activation and engagement. Consequently, a comprehensive masterplanning exercise has commenced.
The Facilities Masterplan Project will further develop a clear, strategic and pragmatic vision for the future development of our club. It will consider enhancements to the entry experience, clubhouse, practice facilities and supporting operational areas to ensure they meet members’ needs and expectations while attracting and retaining talented employees. Preserving the club’s heritage and character and offering a more inclusive experience to the member’s community will also be key.
PROJECT LEAD –
PLACE DEVELOPMENT
Place Development has been appointed to lead a team of best-in-class project consultants and golf specialist for the Facilities Masterplan Project.
Their expertise in local tourism and leisure assets, (examples pictured below), ensures a careful, professional approach that aligns with best practices in golf course development and facility planning.
The team will regularly report to our established Masterplan Working Group and Board throughout the project.

Importantly, members will experience no disruption to their current membership, course access, or facilities throughout this phase of the Facilities Masterplan Project. Steps (including funding commitments) associated with any future development as an outcome of the project will only be determined following the plan’s final endorsement.
The process is designed to be consultative and non-intrusive, with the result anticipated to be a fully endorsed Masterplan that will then act as a blueprint to bring our refreshed strategic vision to life and support its evolution as a vital and vibrant contributor to our stunning locality.
The Facilities Masterplan Project is expected to unfold over the duration of 2025, with specific stages including initial consultation, concept development, finalisation and endorsement outlined in the project timeline.

At this stage, the focus is on planning and consultation. Any construction or development activities will only proceed after final endorsement of the Facilities Masterplan Project, along with detailed planning, approvals and member consultation, ensuring minimal disruption and alignment with member expectations.
Steps associated with any associated future development as an outcome of the Facilities Masterplan Project will be defined only following this endorsement.
We look forward to sharing progress on the Facilities Masterplan Project as it unfolds in the coming months.

Will this process impact my current membership, course access or facilities?
No, members will not experience disruption to their current membership, course access, or facilities. The process is designed to be entirely consultative and non-intrusive. Steps associated with any associated future development as an outcome of the Facilities Masterplan Project will be defined/outlined only following the plan’s final endorsement.
How will members be involved in the Facilities Masterplan Project process and outcomes?
Members will be consulted during various phases of the masterplanning. Your feedback and comments will be valued and incorporated into the final plan, ensuring the future development aligns with the club’s community and members’ needs.
How long will the Facilities Masterplan Project process take?
The process will take approximately 9 months, with specific stages including initial consultation, concept development, and finalisation.
Will there be any construction or major changes to the Club soon?
At this stage, the focus is on planning and consultation. Any construction or development activities will only proceed after detailed planning, approvals, and member consultation, ensuring minimal disruption and alignment with member expectations.
What are the benefits of this Facilities Masterplan for members?
The masterplan aims to improve facilities, enhance the member experience, and future-proof the club. It will help maintain CGC’s reputation as a premier golf destination with facilities that meet modern standards and member needs, at the same time appealing to the club’s local community.
How can I provide feedback or ask further questions?
Key stakeholders (including staff, members and neighbours) will be invited to participate in surveys and feedback sessions via email communications. For further questions, please contact CEO – Tracey-Lea Tiley ceo@cottesloegc.com.
Could this lead to increased fees or membership costs?
The goal of the Masterplan Project is to find an economically suitable pathway to enhance the club’s facilities and experience. Any financial implications will be transparently communicated, and decisions will prioritise value for members.
Will the character and heritage of Cottesloe Golf Club be preserved?
Absolutely. Preserving the unique heritage of Cottesloe Golf Club is a key priority. The facilities masterplan will respect the club’s history while incorporating modern improvements.
How will my feedback influence the final plan?
Member input is vital. Your comments and suggestions will be carefully considered at various stages, ensuring the final facilities masterplan genuinely reflects the desires of key stakeholders.
Will the final Masterplan include facilities that open to the local community?
Members will remain the key priority within the Masterplan Project. Cottesloe Golf Club will remain a private membership golf course. The Facilities Masterplan may explore options for extended user groups (eg. families of members and guests) and dedicated facilities that may be accessible to the local community. These facilities are intended to enhance the club’s community standing and potentially generate additional revenue, with which to fund upgrades and ensure financial sustainability.
Will members’ needs and experience remain the main priority?
Absolutely. The primary focus of the Facilities Masterplan is to serve our members’ needs, ensuring that the core golf and clubhouse experience continues to be exceptional. Any community facilities or programs will be developed in a way that complements and enhances members’ enjoyment.
How will the club balance member interests with community engagement?
The club’s leadership and project team will work closely with members to ensure their priorities are heard and met. Community engagement will be pursued transparently, with clear boundaries and considerations to preserve the exclusive and private nature of the club for members.
How will the endorsed Masterplan be funded at the end of the Masterplan Project?
Various funding avenues will be carefully evaluated to support the development of the facilities masterplan. These include potential sources such as club capex, member contributions, external funding or grants, and revenue generated from any new or expanded facilities that may serve the community.
How will funding decisions impact members?
The goal is to ensure that any funding strategies adopted will enhance the club’s facilities and member experience without imposing unnecessary costs. The Club will communicate openly about funding sources and ensure that members’ financial interests are protected.
