Success at the WA Golf Industry Awards
Last Friday, 31 March, Cottesloe GC was represented at the WA Golf Industry Awards, where our very own Superintendent, Des Russell, was recognised as a finalist for Superintendent of the Year, and our Junior Program a finalist for Outstanding Game Development Program of the Year.
From the list of award nominees, finalists were determined by representatives from WA Golf, GMA, PGA and Superintendent’s Association of WA, and Des found himself up against Superintendent’s from Sun City, Royal Fremantle and Mount Lawley.
With a rousing applause and a definite crowd favourite, Des’s name was called out as recipient of this year’s award, the 2022 Superintendent of the Year. Congratulations to Des and the whole Greens team for their hard work in keeping our course in superb condition, day in and day out, and the commitment they show to our club. This is a very deserving award for all that has been achieved over the past year with the course renovations and resurfacing, works in the revegetation areas, water consumption management, bent grass nursery, and numerous other behind the scenes jobs that Members do not see.

It was an honour for Cottesloe GC to also be recognised as a finalist for Outstanding Game Development Program of the Year, for our junior program, but unfortunately it was not our year.
We have a very strong junior membership at Cottesloe that continues to grow, and with success of the Operation 36 teaching program, and the commitment of our Junior Development Coordinator and teaching professionals Lucas, Bruce and Matt, this is an award just waiting to be awarded to Cottesloe in the near future.
